ABOUT THE SUBMARINERS ASSOCIATION OF KIEL ...

The Submariners Association of Kiel (U-Boot-Kameradschaft Kiel e.V.) is the continuation of the a predecessor organization with the same name with was founded on November 29, 1919. On December 8, 1927 the association was added to the official association files of the City of Kiel.

Currently the association consists of approximately 240 members.Only a part of them live in or close to the City of Kiel. Kiel is the Capital City of Schleswig-Holstein which is the north most State in Germany.

Almost all members of the association are submarine veterans or active submariners. The Submariners Association of Kiel is one of the largest unit within the German Submariner Association (Verband Deutscher U-Bootfahrer e.V., VDU ). The mission of the unit is to bring together submarine veterans and active submariners regardless of their confession and their political or philosophical point of view.

The association maintains the submarine tradition an the comradeship of the submariners and encourages  maritime issues. The association was the founder of the U-boat Memorial (U-Boot-Ehrenmal) Möltenort non-profit foundation.
